Out of Office

June 30, 2026

Look, most of my June was spent between Martha’s Vineyard and Monte Carloc’est la vie (and hopefully more on all that soon). Thus, back in New York, I’ve mostly been resting, recovering, exercising and getting as much work done as possible before I head back to Europe for half of July.

In the sage words of my bestie @bigtallted: I can explain it to you, but I can’t understand it for you.

Therefore, this BoNY shall be short and sweet:

Downtown Party Boy Dream Life

Win Son Bakery (E. Village) – Another reason to never go back to Williamsburg (I kid, I kid—or do I?), this Brooklyn Taiwanese-American restaurant and bakery with a cult following’s E. Village outpost has been slinging the same scallion pancakes, milk bun sandos (goddess help me!) and millet mochi donuts in a hip, minimalist setting since last March. If I was a downtown party boy, I would be nursing my hangovers here every weekend with the mortadella, havarti, egg and pepperoncini scallion pancake, no doubt.

Uptown Social Club

Maxime’s (UES) – Where two Cartersville High School graduates might improbably reconnect after 20+ (ok 25+) years over Sancerre, a broad bean and pecorino salad and lobster ravioli in a maximalist, decadent dining room upstairs.
